Camden County College has a Green Team which meets several times per year to discuss green initiatives.
Quick Fill Water Stations
You may have seen quick fill water stations, such as the one in the photo, around campus. They have been installed in CTC and College Hall on the Camden Campus, Roosevelt, CIM, and Truman on the Blackwood Campus to date. All locations and buildings will have quick fill water stations once the installation process is completed. These stations make use of existing water fountains by allowing people to fill water bottles with filtered water in mere seconds. This eliminates the need for plastic water containers and bottle water, and encourages more water consumption!
Swamp Pink
In February, our Board of Trustees passed a resolution authorizing the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Program Landowner Agreement for the installation of fencing and small exclosure cages around the wetlands on the Blackwood campus to prevent deer from browsing on vulnerable swamp pink plants (Helonias bullata) at their cost and to permit them access for the period of the 10 year agreement. This land is wetlands and is undeveloped and restricted for use by the State DEP as well. This resolution is a result of a Green Team discussion item brought forward by our faculty member Rita Connolly. This has been a 10 year process. Thank you, Rita!
